DIVE LIGHT PLANS
The Slug-Light design use the same water-tight technology found on most commercially available lights. These plans show how to make a 12 volt underwater dive light with a slug-light head. Many of the parts can be purchased at your local Home Depot, while the rest can be found on line or at a dive shop. A variety of bulbs can be used - from 20 watts to 100 watts. The design uses acrylic end caps with O-ring seals and stainless steel compression latches to ensure a prefect seal every time. The water-tight formula is quite simple. These plans provide the basic design principals from which most other battery canisters are made. By using standard compression latches and o-ring seal gland technology, this is a great project for the beginner who wants to build a canister-type dive light at a fraction of the cost for a new one.We encourage DIY builders to feel free to modify the design in order to accommodate whatever materials are available. Most importantly, have fun building your project and enjoy using your new dive light. |
